Description: Responsible for supporting peer review for all RSNA journal related products, including processing manuscript submissions; assigning peer reviewers; and collecting, updating, and reporting data from the solicitation and submission processes.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Processes manuscript submissions from initial submissions through peer review and revision, to final acceptance or rejection.
  • Checks incoming submissions for compliance with content and format guidelines and readies submissions for editorial review.
  • Coordinates peer review, handling all related correspondence, including communications with the authors about the disposition of each submission.
  • When revisions are received, checks all files for format compliance and verifies the presence of the necessary forms and permissions and corresponds with authors as necessary to obtain needed information.
  • Uses database software to identify and solicit reviewers for journal manuscripts.
  • Works with offsite contacts providing customer support to maintain and modify Website for manuscript submission and peer review.
  • Provides trouble-shooting for authors, reviewers, and editorial board members, including offsite feature/guest editors, who use the Web site for manuscript submission and review.
  • Monitors e-mail for bounce-backs, failures, and responses, and takes appropriate follow-up action.
  • Tracks submissions, peer review processes, and manuscript processing and provides statistical data (eg. Number of submissions, rejections / acceptances, publications) to the Editor and others within RSNA.
  • Offers suggestions for workflow improvement.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with database functions, online website management, and report development, especially related to journal publishing
  • Proficiency in current Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Familiarity with medical terminology strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, deadlines
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Able to multitask
  • Strong problem-solving skills
