Description: Responsible for directing the strategic and operational management of the RSNA journals.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Conducts the strategic management, planning and problem-solving for the RSNA journals.
  • With the Assistant Executive Director: Science and Education (AED), establishes, monitors, and evaluates
    journal policies, personnel, organization, work processes, and procedures designed to ensure high-quality, cost-
    effective, and timely peer review, editing, production, and distribution of the RSNA journals.
  • Supports the journal Editors in achieving strategic goals, planning editorial board meetings, and developing
    reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Directly supervises the Director, Journal Business and Operations and Managing Editors for the RSNA
    journals.
  • Keeps the Assistant Executive Director informed of the strategic priorities, operational status, and challenges of
    the RSNA journals and involves the AED as appropriate in strategic brainstorming, problem-solving, and
    communications with the journal editors, RSNA volunteer leadership and Executive Group.
  • Provides primary staff support to the RSNA Publications Council.
  • Establishes and monitors budgets for RSNA publications, the RSNA Publications Department, and other
    projects and activities related to publications.
  • With the Editors and AED, develops new products and services (in print, online, mobile, and in-person formats)
    based on journal content to meet the needs of RSNA members and of the international radiology community.
  • Prepares Board of Directors reports as requested.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Advanced Degree desirable.
  • 10 or more years' experience in medical journal publications, print and online
  • 7 or more years' experience in publication management
  • Ability to use strategic thinking, good judgment and problem-solving to support an organization's mission
  • Excellent management skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills: ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to establish and maintain good working relationships
